I first started using clear acrylics in the early 60's maintaining
varnish and paint (remember when boat were built out of
wood), found I could lengthen the life of spar varnishes to 6
months, when maintaining 20 boats in the 30-36 foot range
with a lot of bright work, that was great in Miami Florida.
I then in a few years became a swimming pool contractor and
built swimming pools for about 15-17 years in Jacksonville Fla.
and bought my dream boat a 42 foot Taiwan Gordon Present
Trawler in 1987 and the gelcoat was very porous so I remembered
back when and went to a chemist in Jacksonville and damed it
worked-- 20 year old trawler looked brand new.
Well in 1988 I introduced New glass to the market at the Miami
International Boat Show and proceed doing 20 to 30 boat shows a
year.
It took about 3-4 years before the copy cats to arrive on the scene,
most where bad but a few good ones appeared and we didn't work
against each other we work together to promote this way of
maintaining older boats and it has worked.
So recently I noticed some slippage in some of the company's
I have been associated with, so being semi I retired I said-- here
..............we go again.
